Act for Wildlife is a new campaign aimed at increasing awareness and funds for vital conservation work around the world, led by conservation charity Chester Zoo.
Because of our extensive knowledge of the charity sector Adept were appointed by Chester Zoo to plan and build the Act for Wildlife website. We worked in collaboration with the design agency Music for the design of the website, who had already created the brand for the campaign.
We wanted the website to revolve around the urgency of action needed and the very hands-on approach that the project has, so we focused on functionality and appropriate page layouts that would support this aim. We then wanted the visitor to have the opportunity to help make a change and feel part of the charity moving forward.
We highlighted the urgency for change by building into the website statistical figures that show shocking statistics of the harm we are inflicting on the environment. These stat boxes update constantly to show the visitor what is happening right now.
The strategy for online donations was to give the visitor a number of opportunities to support Act for Wildlife that matched their personal preference. The visitor can make a single monetary donation to the charity through the integration of a secure credit card gateway or regular donation by direct debit.
A major part of the development of the website was to offer the visitor the opportunity to sponsor a project. By doing this they sign up to regular giving to a specific conservation project. As a thank you we built into the website the functionality for the visitor to be able to select an e-card for themselves or to send to a friend. They also receive a personalised certificate unique to each conservation project.
