The Parks Trust is the independent charity that owns and cares for many of Milton Keynes’ parks and green spaces. This adds up to 4,500 acres of river valleys, woodlands, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas alongside the main roads – about 20 per cent of the new city area.
The Parks Trust was looking for a website redesign of their online presence. They wanted a new website built around a new easy-to-use content management system. The website had to give the Trust a fresh new online presence and include new functionality such as an event calendar and booking system, blog and a completely restructured navigation system which allows users easy access to the extensive content of the website.
A huge problem with their previous website was that its CMS was so hard to use that the website became very static and stale. The new website had to be up-to-date with all of the activities that were going on in the parks.
Adept designed a new website for the Parks Trust that incorporated and enhanced their existing brand elements, making the website much more professional looking and incorporating visual elements to make the site more engaging. The website was built around the Unicity CMS allowing the content to be updated easily by the Trust’s administrative and marketing staff.
Dynamic functionality such as the online events listings, booking and payments systems were created by the development team at Adept, integrating with the Parks Trust’s chosen payment gateway, SagePay, for handling secure online credit card transactions.
The Parks Trust also make use of the SmartMail Email Marketing system to create and send email newsletters to their visitors and supporters. Adept created a bespoke branded email newsletter template for the Parks Trust to allow them to send branded emails though the SmartMail system that can be updated with new text, images and articles each month.
